Marta, pick up the phone, it’s mum
these words interrupt even the most intimate moments between Marta and her husband. Magdalena Piekorz latest film tells about closeness and its consequences.
Marta and her mother are grown – up women who are caught in a vicious circle of toxic emotions- they love each other, hurt each other, then guilt- stricken make up only to get into a new argument again. Their conflicts are the background for Marta’s husband, Jacek’s fight for the happiness of his and Marta’s own family…
It is a film about closeness and its consequences- the closer we are, the more we can get hurt and hurt the other. I believe that my film can be like a mirror in which people can see their own reflection- says the director.
The film was produced by TOR film studio ( important films by Wajda, Zanussi, Holland and Kieślowski were made there as well.) Marcin Koszałka is the cinematographer for Close-ups(he is also known from the Welts, the Drowsiness, The Lovers of Marona, The Reverse). The cinema premiere will be held on October the 24th.
