n ambitious attempt at telling Polish history encompassing the period from the 1930s of the 20th century till now. Extraordinary because, inspired by The Ball by Ettore Scola, a film famous in the 1980s, the director decided to give up the word altogether and stick to music and dance only.
It is set in one place, the only thing that changes is time- these changes are shown through clothes and music popular at the time. So we see the roaring thirties, the nightmares of World War II, Stalin’s terror, March 1968, “Solidarność” movement, freedom of the 90s and the contemporary world. Time as if dances to the rhythm of the music.
