liver Twist” is a story of a poor orphan boy wandering the streets of London and finally joining the gang of thieves. Charles Dickens wrote his novel in the 19th century to deal with important social problems such as abhorrent living conditions of the poor and the lack of social responsibility on the part of the rich. Over 120 years later another Britt, Lionel Bart, made this story into a musical. It seemed that such serious topics will not work out in musical’s entertaining convention. It came as a great surprise that Oliver Twist became a box-office success at London stages and then in many different places around the world.
Here are some interesting facts concerning the performance:
A team of 30 experienced engineers, artists and locksmiths worked on the decorations for 21 days.
They used 2,5 tons of plywood, about a ton of steel – it weighed over 4,5 tons.
For particular elements of this construction they needed 360 square metres of plywood, 420 metres of steel and 300 kg of paint.
These are the biggest decorations that have ever appeared in Teatr Rozrywki Theatre.
A team of over twenty people worked for over 3 months on costumes, hats, props and other elements of the decorations.
150 costumes were made for which about 450 metres of different fabrics were used.
The main character wore 5 different costumes.
200 candidates were auditioned for children characters.

Teatr Rozrywki actors, singers and ballet dancers appeared in this musical as well as visiting artists – Marta Florek, Tomasz Steciuk, Witold Szulc and a group of 40 children.
160 people participated in producing this performance.
